This is a fascinating tale about the Cabell family, many of whom I know. My friends who acted in the film were really great. This Civil War-era tale, honestly presented, flies in the face of racism and proves the intelligence and tenacity of Mary Barnes Cabell, a former slave. West Virginia State University is still thriving, and I know many, many people who have earned their degrees there.
