From the acting of all of the actor’s involved to the vivid depiction of drug addiction and PTSD to the way they portrayed/shot Tom Holland’s character Nico’s life story and everything in between was brilliant. Tom Holland has been taking on some pretty heavy roles lately. This wasn’t just any war movie. This really takes you through the mind of Nico and event that lead up to the madness that I don’t think he saw coming. Some are saying this movie is drawn out, however I see the length to be necessary. The viewer gets to take a very detailed and uncomfortable look at Nico and how he was before and after the PTSD. I think the mixed reviews of this movie truly come from the lack of understanding of the mental illness itself and the way this movie was shot. In the very beginning The Russo’s make Cherry a very personal experience and if you engage properly you will feel every emotion as intended for an intense, roller coaster of emotions. I appreciate the light it shed’s on the illness as it is very stigmatized still.
