The problem is that Mayim ain’t no Miranda. This isn’t supposed to be slapstick, it isn’t supposed to be intellectually quirky and cute, it’s supposed to be a farce in the best traditions of Fawlty Towers and The Worst Week of my Life. Mayim can’t pull this off. It would be like giving someone a script for Fawlty Towers and saying “Go be Basil”. There are too many nuances in the Miranda character that can’t be replicated by anyone else. So if you’ve never heard of Miranda would it still hold up? I don’t think so. The jokes don’t come across well and all the characters are pretty flat. It's OK to give a nod to a source show, then make it your own (like All in the Family and Sanford and Son did) but don't try to replicate the show so exactly with the same routines.
