Robert Jordan is rolling around in his grave right now. I read the series 3 times while growing up, and I honesty believe Robert Jordan took the crown from J.R.R Tolkien.
I am disappointed in the casting and the fact that the screen writer has taken it upon herself to turn strong, cold characters, that were deliberately created and moulded by Robert Jordan, into cry babies. Lan Mondragoran is supposed to be as hard as steel with little to no emotion. Moiraine is also cold and somewhat emotionless. Yet in the television version they have wet cheeks more often then not. And leave it to the left to “gay it up”. I don’t recall the gay warders in the Wheel of Time? Just an FYI and before any argumentative self righteous person starts calling me a homophobe, I am far from it. I just think that the screen writer should try to develop the script keeping the authors vision in mind. In actuality the screenwriter butchered Robert Jordans world. Turning the male characters into metrosexuals instead of warriors.
Ok, I’m done ranting. On a positive note, the visuals are stunning and the acting is phenomenal. I like how the one power is visual, and we can see the weaves. I also think the Trollocs were well realized and I can even accept the fades/Myrddraal’s look.
I ask the writers to actually read the series, and try to respect Robert Jordans world, and his characters. This isn’t your book series, you are not the author and you’re actually doing Robert Jordan a huge disservice by changing his world and flipping it upside down. It is a bit selfish to completely change key characters and turn them into something the original books author did not intend.
I wish I could help write these scripts. I love the wheel of series and I only want to see Robert Jordans world brought to life in an authentic and accurate manner.
Big shout out to all the true die hard wheel of time lovers out there.
Regards,
Pete
