This movie should've been released 5+ years ago.
After Marvel content like Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, and Loki, the main villain in this movie feels irrelevant and unimportant — but also is a VERY boring character. Task master, the other (smaller) villain was EVEN WORSE, with zero character arc, conflict, likability, or unique aspects. The only redeemable aspect in my opinion was the character of Yelena Belova played by Florence Pugh, who was a very lively character. Otherwise Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff had a very boring performance and felt emotionless the entire time. The action is generic and repetitive.
If you've seen many Marvel movies before, this one will feel very similar. A character backstory that takes itself WAY too seriously, a standard villain who wants to do some evil thing, a bunch of action and shooting (not bad, but the action in this movie is subpar for Marvel standards), the villain is defeated, and a plot point is set up for future Marvel properties. Except this one barely even has the last thing, because we already know exactly what happens to Natasha Romanoff in the future.
Even if you're a diehard MCU fan I would skip out on this movie because it adds absolutely nothing to the lore/universe.
The following point won't affect most viewers, but the Russian spoken in this movie sounds really bad. For someone who is supposed to have been a 'Russian spy,' Scarlett Johansson's spoken Russian sounds comically American. A good comparison would be an American calling a quesadilla a 'QuesaDILA' with an L sound.
If you like creative 'Superhero' movies that take risks like Joker or Thor: Ragnarok, this is not it. One of the least creative movies I've ever seen!
