I love this film. The slow sweeping shots of hillsides and fog rolling off of lakes are dreamlike. There is a scene inside of a ministry on the countryside where parishioners gather to pray for children, and the female lead undoes a garment full of birds. This movie is supposed to be about a man in another country feeling out of place and homesick. Tarkovsky does this thing where he shoots architecture and structures overrun by nature (plant life and water overflowing in delapitated buildings, it's powerful and beautiful imagery). It's a good old 2hr and 10 min crawl of a film. But you have to stay to the shocking and heartbroken end. Definetly worth it.
