Despite this being a fantastically, very detailed movie.. it misses that same spark the original Moana had. I know it doesn't because y'know it's a sequel, but it felt boring.. The animation, the colors were good, i'll give it that, but the story telling is.. meh. As a whole the movie felt rushed, it mostly had the same story as the last, the only difference is the villain, and that this time she has more than one person (Maui) with her. Also this has no effect on the movie but they switched voice actors for Moana, which I guess is fine but to sum it up, it feels over-hyped, and it felt so lowly done. I would suggest waiting for it to come into digital instead of watching it in theaters for the main reason being that it's not worth the price it's given.
Besides the showing of the movie, I don't believe Moana even needed a sequel, I think it was perfect where it was left at. If they wanted to continue the series, a show could have been a better choice than a whole movie that feels exaggerated.
Also some humor is repetitive as well within the movie from Moana 1.
Besides the negatives I do like the character improvement between both of the main protagonists, everything else is.. you already know.
