Old People's Home for 4 Year Olds is an absolute TREASURE!
It is reality TV at its finest, towering over the likes of, e.g., the contrived, over-hyped, cringe-fest MAFS (which isn't even 'so bad it's good'). On the other hand - Old Peeps' Home for Little Tackers is wonderful because its authentic presentation makes these intergenerational interactions powerful and captivating (and beautiful, adorable, hilarious, heart-warming and life-transforming).
A similar activity must surely become part of school curriculums beginning from early learning onward. - and should also be a given in aged care planning and reform going forward. Besides the obvious, life-enhancing benefits, it would open people's minds (and hearts), from an early age, to become more understanding, thoughtful, kind, respectful, empathetic humans. I think it would also go a long way to dismantle this cruel, culture of ageism, which has somehow become the accepted norm, where 'oldies' are largely disrespected, disregarded and seen as a joke or a burden, when historically, globally, elders have been highly respected for their wealth of knowledge, insight and expertise and seen as an essential, powerful part of society. I can hardly wait for Season 2 to air here in Australia on Tues 6th April 2021. I also want to say thank you to all those involved in bringing this genius show to our screens and uplifting our pandemic-weary hearts - here's to many more seasons.
