The movie was slow paced and did not go into much detail. Felt like watching a foreign perfume commercial, and I still couldn’t figure out what was going on. Also, I didn’t feel the love or hate from the characters, except one scene with Gurney. You can’t really tell who is the good guy or the bad guy, or why characters are doing what they do. Just felt dull, like the last days of a bad relationship, just reading lines.
As for Dune 1984 version, no critic in the world will tell you to watch that version, because they don’t want to get fired, since the artistic world has deemed it a failure. Dune 1984 is very detailed and a lot more colorful, little campy, but some great scenes. I’ve never read the book, but I guess the last two versions have been so pale and dreary because they are based more on the book.
You have had a taste of the storyline, don’t wait 3 years for the ending, check out Dune 1984, a new 4k release is out, it’s probably what is being used on hbomax.
