Do yourself a service and watch the original 1978 version if you can find it. It's closer to the source material and the animation of the netflix series is so bad you're missing nothing by watching the old animation. The changes that were made are unnecessary. It can be hard to adapt a classic work in the first place. This version is dumbed down even further than the work in 1978. How in the world does a cartoon made in 1978 with a PG rating end up much more riveting and violent than one in 2018? I have no idea.
