Completely historically inaccurate. The film portrays Islam as being anti education and the ‘mullahs’ want to shut down the education centres and the hospitals. In reality, this is completely untrue. Islam promoted education and learning to people throughout the world, regardless of their religious affiliations. The plot is designed to make viewers believe that while Islam was against medicine and learning, it was thanks to a violent and drunken Shah that rules like a Pharaoh that kept the education and learning alive while it was a Jewish student who made fantastic medical discoveries. This movie is a farce! The amount of historical inaccuracies gets to the point of ridiculousness. The director didn’t even take the time to learn even basics of Islam to try to and get even a slight portrayal of reality. Instead he places lies and a dislike into the minds of viewers of Islam and muslims. I hated this movie! While the world was living in the dark ages and Europe was burning women for being witches, the Muslim world flourished with knowledge and learning like the world had never seen. The light it brought to the world was diminished by this writer / director in the hope of a profit at the box office!
