I graduated high school in 1999. Even though this show depicts the year(s) shortly after, and younger kids, it hits home, hard. And in good and bad ways. Being a super dork is not a choice, I know because I was one. Seeing super dorks deal with mean girls, stupid boys (gender stuff then wasn't as fluid as it is getting now), parents, school administration, and many of the social issues that accompany diversity or a lack thereof, is refreshing and reminiscent in a way that makes me wish more people understood what it is/was like to be un-bigoted (yes, I know that's not a word) unpopular, underdeveloped, smart. Love yourselves, love other people, try not to hurt either.. It's that simple.
