This 'Scarborough' series is an antidote for frayed nerves. At last again a series for those who don't need shoot 'em ups and psycho drama to entertain them. The writing is wonderful. The humor is sometimes sly and sometimes broad and always made warm and funny by the likable and masterful cast. In the last episode (#6) a customer of the dowdy old beauty salon that is to be brought into the 21st century says something like "we don't want modern, we want it the way it is - we want a home". That is a good analogy for the series. The story is condensed into far-fetched situations to make the story move along, making it fairy-tale like, yet the action and acting create "real" situations. It was so much fun to watch. I enjoyed each episode like a cup of tea (with or without sherry) and wish there would be many more. Five stars for what it is, not for what it isn't.
