Although I thought the story improved throughout the chapters, the demand of your imagination is tested throughout the book. The number of associated creatures and their unique abilities was a stretch for me to appreciate. Some adventures suddenly would occur to fulfill the future of the book and took some adaptation. The ending was more of a prelude to the next book than more recent Baldacci books. I am not sure this is the series I have to finish
