I enjoyed the first book a lot, but I found this book to be just exhausting with the back and forth back and forth. It sat uneasy with me that Hardin just mentally abused and at some points physically hurt Tessa and she kept forgiving him and going back to that toxic relationship. I felt like that kind of abusive and toxic relationship was romanticized and told as this epic love story. Hardin tried to control Tessa at every turn, telling her what to do and who she could talk to. I would have liked to see Tessa make more strides to stand on her own and maybe even get her own apartment.
