I loved this as well as the actors who played in it. Peter Lorre, James Mason, and of course Kirk Douglass. Now they are all pretty much gone. The recent passing of Mr. Douglass was the last of my childhood heroes to be honest. I suppose it is due to my age but my heroes all came from the golden era of Hollywood when movies and movie scripts actually portrayed the best of America. Goodness, common sense, morality, and family values.
Back in the 40s and 50s movies personified the hopes and dreams of a nation after the horrors of the Depression and World War II. Now too many movies to me seem to be nightmares and evil predictions of dread and fear. I really don't care for many movies today.
