I'm Irish but most Irish people are totally unaware that the show was funded,made and aired by channel 4 UK and filmed in front of a live studio audience in London with outdoor filming shot in Ireland. Great Irish writing and actors included. So its both a British and Irish show. One of my all time favorite shows.
