Wow, loved this film for so many reasons. Lastly to discover it is from a Ruth Rendell novel! I am still trying to make sense of that -- a film that seems to be so steeped in the Spanish culture, to have been written by an Englishwoman? ...

Rave reviews lured me in but I was not at all impressed. Not just by the mediocre performances but next level -- poor casting. Why Daniel Craig in a role for a character with a southern drawl -- he did not pull that off -- perhaps the one reference by Rancid to his drawl gave him license to overdo it. JL Curtis. Don Johnson. Both making comebacks but not at all credibly, sorry. Visually uninteresting to boot, missed opportunities for visual punches and punchlines. Not enough twists nor crescendo of suspense in the plot. Dull really. Lost me quite early on. The glue in the story and the production were the nurse. She was good, but it was not enough.
