I will be honest, I didn’t know what I was expecting when I watched this movie. I thought it was going to be similar to Inside Out. It’s not. It’s something completely different. However, I really do recommend watching this movie. You may LIKE this movie or absolutely DISLIKE it. Either way It’s worth the watch!
I actually didn’t know how controversial this movie was till after reading the reviews. So why not just watch it. What’s stoping you? A couple of judgmental reviews ?
If so then don’t listen to me. It’s not like I get emotional at times. Or that I don’t even know what to do with my own emotions because I was RAISED to ignore them. Also puberty? In a coming of age movie. What? Puberty is definitely something that’s only discussed in school. You know, get the permission slip signed by your parents (so they don’t have to talk to you about, because that would be too uncomfortable) Its obvious the BEST way to learn about our own “body changes” is to sit in an awkwardly silent class and watch an outdated video. Right? And for females? Periods, between the ages of 9 to 18. No! That’s something that is in our completely control. Just like our emotions, life, or any other body changes (like hair, smell, and weight gain). Also the best part of becoming a young adult is learning that you have control as an adult. Just like how our parents were in control 100% of the time. Especially, of our lives growing up. We do have to make them proud! AND can you believe liking BOYS at such a young age? 13?? Obviously when you have a crush it means you’re horny. Don’t you have to wait till you’re like in your 20’s before you can think someone is cute? So you don’t end pregnant and dropping out of school? Honestly, this is why things aren’t discussed out loud. Certain things just can’t be discussed to children. Like I said.. what do I know? I’m just another adult dealing with generational trauma.
I just want to applaud Pixar for creating this film. This is the type of film I needed around when I was a kid. I’m 25 😅 and I don’t have kids but I still really liked this movie. When the time comes and I have kids I will definitely watch this movie with my kids. 1. To help open up some dialogue with children about subjects that may be difficult to discuss 2. THIS MOVIE IS SO CUTE!!
Go Pixar !
