I've watched NBC News since my freshman year in high school. I find it to be a SUPERB source of national and international news coverage. I'm now 75 years of age !!! The segment on the evening of 2/28/19 was of particular interest to me. Why ? it concerned Vietnam era troops that went back to live there. There was a 2-3 second clip of an assault boat landing Marines that happened on the beach in DaNang in March of '65. That was my Amphibious Ready Group and the assault craft featured (PA 222) ! The USS Pickaway APA-22 was the main ship that carried these crafts. I was a "Sparky" ( Radioman) on a Mike Boat (LCM)(Salvage) that had the responsibility of retrieving the "Papa boats" in the event that they became stuck in the low water surf of the beach.I operated with the ARG for 4 years and remember it like it was yesterday !!! Thanks NBC and Mr Holt for the fond memories !!!!!!
