I read someone’s review imply”no story at all”, which speaks more about their intelligence level than the movie. While not the most complex plot, there’s definitely a plot that paces in a manner that one would want for a scary movie. If you don’t like unsettling then this movie isn’t for you. This movie is the personification of unsettling and uncomfortable situations. It does exactly what it sets out to do and while I wouldn’t watch it more than a few times, that’s simply because it’s such an intentionally uncomfortable movie to watch, that you only need to see it once or twice. Very good movie. Another win for A24.

*Spoiler alert they had a good opportunity to do this show justice. But boy did the f$!k that ending up. IMO the worst possible way to end the lead up. Him finally meeting his mom and reuniting with the woman who he first fell for? No let’s get him to barely glance at his mother, turn his true lover into a complete meat pocket, and let’s have him marry his adopted daughter who he willingly sold off to her rapist. Yes because that’s the answer clearly. The build up I’d almost rate a five, but then those last few episodes made the Game of Thrones ending look like true justice. Not to mention the complete f$!Kery of a sub plot they had with his adopted brother. His character turned into a complete waste of screen time. The potential was there to make a good climax considering Arnau had no idea that it was his brother who helped set the rape/marriage up of his daughter/wife (smh). Instead they do that dumb sacrificial scene at the end. Sound confusing? No it’s really not. just get to know the character, and watch like the first 5 episodes. Then think about the best possible way to end the show, and think about the opposite of that, and then you’ll have this shitshow. Oh my gosh how they butchered this. Those last few episodes were truly a crime.
