This is a really old, nearly 100 year old, movie and most existing prints would be improved by a digital restoration AND it is black and white AND silent! Ok, this is all the bad stuff folks. Now the good stuff, and there is a lot! First, I got a copy with a restored score done by the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra,. The score adds a lot to the movie going experience. Next, no expense was spared in props and costume, no cheap or cheesy backgrounds here. The story has humor and the acting is good. When you realize that stuntmen didn't exist then and that Fairbanks did ALL his stunts, the action is something special! There is a strong moral message against tyranny that was unexpected, and to me very welcome! All in all a good movie to watch and if you can get the kids past the age of the film, good for kids.
