I love this show :D
A good chunk of 1-star reviews is just "oMg tHE sHow Is SOoOo ViOlEnT!!!!!!11!!
or
"mY 8 yEaR oLd wAtcHEd iT wIthOUt mE KnOwiNg aNd wAs tRauMaTizEd >:(((((("
it's SUPPOSED to be violent- it's rated for mature audiences for a reason- if you don't like violence don't watch it- that's not the fault of the show that's your taste. And don't tarnish a good show's reputation because you can't monitor your child properly.
People are like "KiLlIng iS bAd StOp. LiKE OmG uR aLL psYcHoS" Even though the game is presented in a bad light. People don't enjoy the deaths, they enjoy the many other good things about Squid Game: learning about the characters, the plot, the next games, the history/backstory of the games, etc.
It's a great commentary on capitalism as well "Rich people can get away with pretty much anything if they're rich enough and they feel no empathy for poor people and only use poor people for their benefit." If the only thing you got from this show was the violence then you're the problem :/
Another thing is that people say is that the characters are one-dimensional. I agree that yes- some are- (or maybe that's just me being dumb lol) like the snake tattoo guy and his ex-gf but other than that the rest of the characters are honestly, very realistic.
And then there are people complaining that Gi-Hun doesn't use the money afterward. I think that makes sense too. He had to watch his childhood friend kill himself so that Gi-Hun could get the money. He watched nearly 455 other people die so he could get rich. For people complaining about violence and one-dimensional characters, you sure get pressed when a character who went through such a traumatic experience is portrayed properly.
I loved this show very much but unfortunately didn't get to say why :") however I still decided to write this to debunk some of the bs criticisms in the 1-star review section so that people who haven't watched the don't get the wrong impression! I hope anyone reading this watches the show because it's genuinely amazing!
