This movie ruined my life.
Okay...that was a bit dramatic....
except for the fact that it DID but only just for the few hours remaining after watching it.
The only thing enjoyable about this movie was Ryan Reynolds comedic relief (sometimes) and Joe Keery but mainly because I like his music and his work in Stranger Things. Also, Chris Evans cameo toward the end.
The amount of things that made no sense in this movie absolutely enraged me. One thing that I cannot get passed is the fact that when Guy kissed Molotov Girl, they revealed that there was not a button in the game that would allow him to make that move to further reveal that his character is artificially intelligent and is gaining more power/awareness. But, if that is the case, how did she kiss him when she needed to give him his awareness back if it isn't an actual move?
Also, how did she not realize that Joe Keery, (keys), literally coded him as a way of revealing his love for her when he literally explained that while she was trying to gain more of an understanding on guy. Like, how could you NOT pick up on that? Also, when she ran after him after finally realizing he loved her for all of this time, that was cringey and extremely cliche. Antoine's dialogue was so hard to find funny and I do not blame the actor. He tried, and that is all that matters.
Lastly, the explanation of the whole reason why NPC's are gaining awareness and knowledge did not make it any more realistic.
I'm surprised by the amount of good reviews on this movie.
As an individual who is a part of gen z (which is obviously the main target audience of the film; hence the game references and twitch streamer cameos), I found the attempt at trying to make some of the humor more gen z-centric unsuccessful and embarassing. Ta-ta.
