[SPOILERS] There were some good themes that the story could've explored in a profound way which is undermined by Joel's abrupt death. Themes such as forgiveness and how revenge is a fool's game. The writing is lazy. It feels as if they had a hard time finding an antagonist and the WLF and Abby were the best they could've come up with. Abby and her reasons for revenge weren't developed at the beginning of the game. The fans didn't know who Abby was, why she was motivated to kill Joel, and thus, they didn't care about her. So when a character fans barely know or care about kill the center of this franchise, it's an understatement to say the writers did a dishonor to Joel and to the fans. Despite this, Abby could've been a great character with a beautiful character arc exploring the aforementioned themes. Had she been able to confront Joel and Ellie and by extension her own trauma, this game would've been another masterpiece gamers held dear to their heart. Instead, she seems like a lazy plot device designed for the sake of having a plot. Thus, along with other issues, this game doesn't meet its potential.
