the show emphasizes how it is "gritty" and "realistic" yet fails to do so from the language, clothing, teeth, hair, and character writing. the director and writer failed. the death in the 2nd episode was predictable as the character was written to be disliked for an easy death. the third episode proved to be similarly predictable and had the added bonus of inconsistency with suddenly people being able to speak English when in the first episode only 1 person in the group could. overall a simplistic soundbite show for a simplistic audience that fails to understand how and what is considered good writing. if you want a western with good writing I recommend Lonesome Dove. do not recommend watching 1883 overall BASIC.
