This has to be the best piece of literature I have ever read. Ever! "Pano Chalo", written by Zambia author Stephen A. Mpashi in 1956, has been translated into multiple languages over the years. The version I've just read is a reprint from 2009 that I found in an old book store in Mansa. This book store had both a Bemba and English version and I got them both. Having read both of them, I highly highly recommend reading it in Bemba. If that's not possible for you, the English version gets the job done relatively well, but some cultural nuances get lost in translation. It is only 50 pages so it's not a chore. Honestly, I could have done with a thousand more pages of this... Simply brilliant!
