Very slowly-paced for a spy picture, with reams of needless backstory/exposition, and characters that come and go, vanishing from the main story for long stretches with no good explanation. It's also oddly confusing, and not in a good "Oh, I didn't see that twist coming!" sort of way. Just because it's a true story doesn't mean it has to be boring. Gael Garcia Bernal is utterly wasted. Finally, given the oddball setup --- with Castro-supporting Communist Cubans basically acting as the "good guys" --- it could/should have been a compelling eye-opener for American viewers. Instead, it lands with a shrug.
