Hopkins and Colman are beyond superb in this film. The audience sees reality through the father’s eyes and as a result the viewer becomes disoriented in trying to decipher the facts. The score brilliantly juxtaposes elements of disturbing restlessness and angelic beckoning suggesting peace and rest once the earthly struggle ends.
Having lived this experience as a
daughter I was grateful to this film and its writer/director and team for giving me an opportunity to relive that insanely difficult passage in my life - but with new eyes. I was able to see the whole picture so to speak rather than seeing it solely through my personal lens.
Highly recommend
