I love so many things about the show. First off, it.is.hilarious. The show depicts the lives of Asian immigrant family in a very suburban "American" place. I am Asian and have lived in many places in the states where most of them lacked Asian community nearby just like the Huang family. At least for me, I experienced a lot of pressure to assimilate in the past. The show depicts how Asian immigrants and Asian Americans live and build relationships with those around them as a part of the community who are not predominantly Asians. They also reflect so much about the Asian or Asian american cultures through the dynamics with the family members including Asian parents, grandma, siblings and other relatives. There are so many aspects that other Asians in the states can relate to this. I also love that they show many different types of Asians. Honestly, let's face it. Asians people are at least exposed to swag or they are swaggers lols (like Eddie). It's shown through how Eddie loves Tupac and the way he dresses. I can easily relate to it and find other Asian friends who are like Eddie. But then, we also have Asian friends that value education, working hard, etc. I This show is hilarious. But also, this show is very meaningful to represent Asian peeps out there. I hope that it is a vehicle to spread the presence of Asian community in the states and celebrate by the variety of ways of life of Asians or Asian americans.
