Kudos for Jennifer's writing & how she connects the dots of bird evolution and that with evolution of humankind. I only have a layman understanding of wildlife & birds, still could easily relate to the consensus being formed in each chapter. Most importantly how she tries to explain why we should not compare human intelligence with that of birds to decide if birds are smart or dumb. The writing is on the wall on why certain species are on the decline. The sad and excruciatingly painful part is about how researchers might have tortured the birds to learn about them. Be it cutting of the nerves of birds or exposing them to magnetic fields to disorient them. May be researchers should also know their limits..... it can't be barbaric in the name of research.
