We Americans loved Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman and Tim Conway in their sketches. MASH was incredibly funny. But this show, next to Monty Python, is some of the best British comedy ever to hit the small screen. Dame Patricia Routledge is brilliant as the ever social climbing, insufferable Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced Bouquet). Her supporting cast, consisting of sister characters named after flowers, imply and reinforce the sweetness of flowers but also illustrates the bawdiness of British naughtiness in their screen antics. I have laughed until my sides ached at the snobby Hyacinth getting her come uppance in every episode. She reminds me of a long deceased aunt, who carried a ladder under her arm everywhere she went, just waiting for an opportunity to ascend to the next level of society. Watch this show and laugh, laugh, laugh!!!!
