Colleen Hoover has, yet again, done it again! There is not a CoHo book that I have not enjoyed. I saw this book all over booktok and had no idea what it was about (like most of my Colleen Hoover books that I have read).
Reminders of Him was an emotional rollercoaster that I was not anticipating. Anticipating, meaning the heartbreak of the main character, Kenna. What she has gone through, not only the loss of her soulmate, but of her child, and dealing with the weight of the world on her shoulders for something she did not do...on purpose. Colleen Hoover has a way of humanizing all her characters and she did an exceptional job with Kenna. She makes her heroine, vulnerable yet strong, defeated yet resilient, mad at the world yet happy of what the world brought to her. She truly captures the essence of a mother's love for their child. Kenna is an amazing character that I will not be able to forget.
You can't have a heroine without a hero and that is Ledger. He is a strong male figure that makes you love him, then hate him, then fall in love with him again. He is not without his faults. In the end, he saves Kenna's world and makes it a better place.
As a parent, this was hard to read as you constantly think about your children and what you would do in Scotty's parents' shoes and even in Kenna's shoes. The way the story played out, was brilliant.
This is a definite must-read! Be prepared and have tissues on hand.
