I was assigned to read Just Mercy for my college persuasive writing class and to write an analysis of it following the completion of the book. In our day and age, it is easy to overlook the wrongdoings that fall around us, for it seems like going out of our daily path of seeking our own happiness/fulfillment seems too daunting to try and change the daily projection of someone else's life. Bryan Stevenson is an unique individual, who graduating from Harvard Law and being Black himself, has experienced both sides of the path. He uses evidence in the form of statistics and data to evidence in the form of personal interaction with those who are falsely accused and casted out by a "white dominated" society. I believe it would benefit all who interact with human beings on a daily basis to take the time to read the stories and experiences recorded within the pages of this book. You will not regret your decision to do so and if I may, you will change by the words you read. All of us as a human family need to feel compassion at times in our lives and we all can feel that if we all choose to judge less and love more, as Stevenson personally records a story of his own where his outlook on others changed at a very young age. Read. Reflect. Ponder. And become a better friend, spouse, partner, etc. to all who surround you.
