The outstanding impression I have from watching Napoleon is that Joaquim Phoenix appears to be on heavy tranquilizers or downers throughout this film . He is overly subdued and very drowsy eyed in every scene. I am not saying this is the truth just that this is how he appears in every scene. There is almost no animation to the character of Napoleon. This performance overshadowed everything else about the movie for me.

The Curse really points up the problems of people who are manipulating everything in their lives and others' lives with their so called " good intentions " and money. Good intentions and money are usually at the bottom of bad decisions. The dicomfiture that results is very funny to me even though they are oblivious to it. This couple is blissfully unaware! This behavior is so common in real life . This show is timely and on target.

In a word,wooden! Too much stilted dialogue to be enjoyable on anything but a superficial level. Pretty costumes,yes,but still a little over the top. With so many characters available from that period to focus on,why stick with stereotypical ones for the focus. Although the architect, White, was mentioned, I wish there were more real characters of the time period woven in to the story, like in the book, Ragtime, or in Scorcese's Age of Innocence. Simply lacking any real drama.

I don't think of myself as much of a sci fi fan except for the obvious reasons to love Gene Roddenberry and the Star Trek universe. I do enjoy some fantasy, so where fantasy and science fiction overlap , I am a fan. I really liked Mr. Aronofsky 's review from 2 months ago. I only just began watching The Expanse , but so far I enjoy the series very much. The plot and characters are both complex and evolve slowly after many twists and turns.I'm only on episode 4 and I don't know who anybody really is yet or exactly what their true motivations might well be in the big picture. They are so muti dimensional. I do wish the sets were not all so dark , as in dimly lit.I don't care for that aspect of set design in this show.I think lighting is much more interesting than we see here. So far anyway. Maybe it will improve as the episodes progress. But I stopped watching because it began to seem like just another war, but this time being fought in space.

I love film as an art form and I watch a lot of video, series and films. However I rarely watch a western in the classic sense. But when I read about this movie--- the cast, the plot, I had to see it. And like so many others have said, I wish I had seen it sooner, it was so good. I really found it to be a fully true and complete expression of the work on every level and in every way possible.From character to story to plot to location and on and on , it was perfect.Even with the violence, which is integral to the story, this is one of my favorite films. It's so well done. Nothing left to say, except, see this film!

Although it was well acted and the characters were well drawn, I felt the story lines were somewhat irresponsible given the reality of what the real Manhattan experience in the desert truly encompassed. For example, no one could swallow plutonium and then wash it down with beer and live to tell about it. They were much more concerned with interpersonal relationships and individual decisions than the real story that was available to to be told with insight and clarity.I t was a naive account of what Manhattan really meant to our word.
