I didn't read the book so I can't compare, but found this adaptation to be pretty entertaining, though not completely surprising. I liked the fact that Ashley was black and am shocked by how many reviewers have issues with black and Asian actors playing characters who were white in the book. They seem to be unaware of how racist they are or they don't care. I find that more chilling than any horrifying moment in this episode.
