I wish there were more movies like this. There’s no senseless revenge, over the top heroes. Sometimes stories try to encompass too much, there are all these messages to get across. I don’t think I’ve seen Vicky Krieps in anything else, but she was so beautiful as Vivienne. We are so used to Hollywoods over the top, absurd portrayals of romantic love, that maybe we forget its beautiful simplicity. A few awkward smiles, clumsy physical intimacy and underneath it all a desperation to be with someone, even if it means planting your roses in a god forsaken desert.
