Pornographic trash masquerading as art where women exist only as either suicidal, dumb, subservient, irrelevant (due to age), or sexual creatures. And it could have been 45-60 minutes shorter without losing anything. If you care, let me also mention that two significant African-American characters are either sexual playthings or in service to Emma Stone’s character or literally apologize for “causing” her to bite him (a man she also calls a “boy”). Speaking of Stone, good thing she was awarded an Oscar since she is otherwise completely exploited, showing all of her body and being screwed constantly (but, hey, it all looks so pretty and well lit and with lovely costumes and exotic weirdness and she wins out at the end which makes all the degradation okay cause she’s a “free spirit” and “sexually liberated”!!!). As a cis hetero man, I should actually love this movie as I can pretend to have a real interest in this film to impress my wife or girlfriend with my openness to seeing this “chick flick”when secretly it’s a great chance to see a whole lot of sex, primarily between men and women. (If I was a cis hetero white guy, I probably would say “5 Stars and this movie is awesome!! More please!!”)
