Luka Chuppi directed by Laxman Utekar is about live in relationship which is now becoming a fad in India.This is because of women becoming more independent and also because of commercial reasons.. Kaartik and Kriti get close working togeather for a local T.V. channel.Its Kriti's idea to get in a live in relationship before committing for life. They are having the time of their life before being caught by Pankaj Tripathi who presumes that they have got secretly married and brings the entire family to their doorstep. The film is about trying to actually getting the 7 pheras and that part is quite farcical. But if you are a good technician both with equipment and words you can weave a scenario which can keep the viewers engaged. This movie succeeds to do that...The casting and performance of each character is amazing. Lankan is simply brilliant with his body language. Most of the music is borrowed..The movie does make a comment on the political class who are drumming up useless issues rather than concentrating on employment, education etc...Definitely worth watching..

URI had invoked expectations. Unfortunately that has been belied.You went in to see an amazing operation conducted by the INDIAN ARMY only to find the whole operation being masterminded by NSA advisor Ajit Doval played by PARESH RAWAL.The top brass of the Army has been almost ignored.The entire operation is executed by a Major played by VICKY KAUSHAL and planned by PARESH.There are other characters which are incidental like Yami Gautam and Kriti kulhari and Mohit Raina who have all been wasted.Vicky KAUSHAL who has so far been superlative fails you somewhere.The camera work too is somewhere not up to the mark and so is the music.But the main culprit is the screenplay and direction which is at best mediocre. If you want to watch movies in this genre watch Argo and Zero dark thirty. You will realize the difference..

Science tells us that the brain of a chimpanzee and a four year old kid is similar. The uniqueness of the film is that it makes you watch a kid do all kinds of stuff for 92 minutes alone in a house.She is vulnerable and you care for her safety and that's the gripping part of the film. It's not easy to direct a kid that young as they have their own moods.The director scores on this front. For the audience it is a very tiring film as you have to keep watching the same house and one kid with nothing to entertain you. It is best a short film which should have ended in 40 minutes.

The promos of the film looked promising but the film falls short.Especially if you have already watched WALL STREET and THE WOLF OF WALL STREET. I wonder sometimes that inspite of having such references the makers are not able to make a product which is a notch above.An ambitious young man Mehra wants to make it big in stock market.He idolizes Saif who is a heartless star stock broker.He manages to get into his company with the help of his employee Radhika. The rest of the film is all about his rise and eventual fall.The music of the film is just about ok. The problem with the film is with the script and screenplay which is mediocre. Still this being a new subject the young generation May just about like it. Saif a ruthless broker and Rohan Mehta as his protege have done a good job. Radhika is appropriate though she has done better work before. Go without much expectations and you will be alright....

Brilliant...simply Brilliant. A movie like this comes once in a while and leaves you asking for more. Everything about the movie,script, direction, music, performance are just on the dot.Its a movie you want to watch till the title rolls. An elderly couple with grown-up children are expecting. This causes great embarrassment to the grown-up youngsters and the would be parents as well.The attitude of friends, family and neighbours add to this embarrassment as well. How they overcome their own fear about this new development and how their children and relatives gradually turn around is what the whole film is all about. Gajraj Rao as the father and Neena Gupta as the mother have nailed it completely. In fact every actor is simply brilliant and the credit should go to the director. The dialogues are absolutely appropriate according to the colloquial dialect of the society to which that character belongs. In short go watch the film assured that you would simply love it. Just a thought...my uncle is younger to his nephew...what is scandalous in today's time was almost a norm 50 years back when the mother's and the daughters were getting pregnant simultaneously.. Are we more modern?...Think about it...

Just saw Jalebi made under the Bhatt banner and found it just about ok..Good things first.The most endearing part is the fresh Star cast and they have all done a fairly good job...The sad part is the screen play and the music which leaves much to be desired..Don't know why they called the film JALEBI..Maybe the relationship is convulted...but I feel it's the writers who are...They want to show the heroine as difficult and non conforming but then stop short.. The direction too lacks the finesse that such a movie requires..It's shot in a limited budget and it shows..Really wish they had put a little more brains in this project..All the best to the New Star cast..

Well,Well, Well...After hearing such raving reviews of this film just rushed to watch it and boy am I disappointed...Big time..it is a film which has not come from the heart. Two and more people have put their heads together joined a few old Hollywood films and have come up with this film which is definitely not an Indian film in its spirit...None of the actors have performed to the tune...They are either an octave higher or lower than what their character demanded..if you rewind the film after watching it you would really see the conceited effort...you would realise that the entire sequence is all false and the story is a big hoax.. Not one song has the potential of becoming popular although the lead is a pianist .. It may only be liked by people who are not exposed to good European Cinema...If you want to watch a good film in this genre watch RAHASYA..you would know the difference...

Nandita Das has her priorities right by choosing her subject of Manto as it is absolutely relevant today as we see society getting polarized on the basis of religion... Sadat Hassan Ali Manto was a provocative writer in the 40's.The film is a depiction of the tormentation of his soul after he moved to Pakistan after partition. Nandita Das has used the same style as Steven Spielberg used in THE SHIENDLER'S LIST.The only problem is that if you have not read Manto' s stories you will be left confused as to when a chapter from his story starts playing in the film.. The casting of the film is almost perfect and every actor has done a great job. The trouble with the film is that it's sum total is not equal to its part.Manto's characters are a product of his circumstances or his own personality is also a question.The fact that he is shown as a chain smoker and a perpetual drinker somehow subtracts from his creative identity.Wish someone should have advised her to tone down this side of his would have definitely helped the film.. The film definitely makes a point that partition hardly had any positive impact on a common man's life. It's a thought provoking film and with a little more professional experience had the potential of becoming a classic. Go with an idea that you are going to watch a play and you will be alright...

Tapsee is having a torrid physical relationship with Vicky kaushal right under the nose of her younger sister who is just 10 years old who herself eyes a boy next door.This is the premises that Anurag Kashyap begins this film from. The first half of the film goes in establishing the carnal relationship of this couple.The girl's family inspite of knowing this carnal affair hardly objects.God alone knows which family in Punjab allows their daughter to sleep with a good for nothing fellow. They even ask her to get married to him.The boy simply doesn't have the guts to come before the family.The girl being a fiesty character just decides to go Ahead with the first man shown to her. Abhishek comes from abroad and falls In love with the girl at first sight.After getting physical with Vicky one more time Tapsee again asks him to come to her house for marriage and again he fails her.Eventually she goes ahead and marries Abhishek. After her marriage Vicky starts feeling even more horny and she too cannot resist not getting laid by him.Abhishek continues to tolerate the relationship in silence till one day when he actually catches them red handed and decides to walk out. This film is a concoction of characters from Hum dil dey chuke sanam,Tanu weds Manu,and Dev D.Kashyap has now started repeating himself.The music helps the film but none of the songs can be sung.Vicky marshal excels. Tapsee is good but not as good as Kangana. Abhishek has acted well in one scene. Overall it's nothing but role reversal.The girl is behaving like a male and Abhishek's character is acting like a traditional wife who has to suffer in silence. If you like this kind of so called empowerment of women go ahead and watch it.To my mind they hardly have a clue about complex human behaviour. Technically a good film but rather immature thought process..
