The common theme that I've noticed about the story tellers is that they all seem to be EXTREMELY gullible. They don't believe what they see with their own eyes, or hear with their own ears! The perpetrators are evil, but the narrators live in a constant state of denial where they continuously make excuses for unacceptable behavior.
