Kell Brigan (Kell Checks In)

Meh. Plenty of echoes of Lerner & Loeb and Hitchcock's Rope. Good cast, predictable writing, pretty shots of the Pacific Coast. I'd rent Rope instead.

Let's just say the Democrat National Committee wrote the third act. No, really. There's a big plot "twist" that not only ruins what is in the comix a great set of villains, but also is there only to attempt to convince the audience that Trump is bad!!! Yes, dirt-stupid political propaganda in a movie about superheroes that's supposed to be fun. I wish I was exaggerating. (I'm a female human and I a) endorse this message and b) really wish every Alien movie was as good as 1 & 2.)

Read the other 1-star reviews, here, i.e. from people who actually are Hasidic. This is just more predictable lefty propaganda. Yes, there's the de riguer massively improbable high number of gays doing PDAs for no reason, etc. This ticks all the woke boxes. Run away.

3 stars. Mostly fan service. (Why the hell were Jesse and Mike at the riverside, for instance? Makes no sense in terms of the history, and is just a lame callback to Mike's death.) I don't think this film added anything to the overall story that wasn't already there, i.e. Jesse survived. Very draggy in parts; could easily have been 1.5 hours. A major drawback is that the actors are obviously older. I would much rather have seen a "ten years later" story for all these characters than this exercise in suspension of disbelief. Didn't suck, but not worth writing home about.

1) This movie is OPTIMISTIC and CREATIVE! You'll learn a lot about ways creative people are reducing food waste and making wonderful products (toast ale, anyone?) in the process. So many good ideas, and I was motivated to search out a great household composting/CSA program in my area that I didn't even know existed! 2) Do, do, do watch the hilarious closing credits ALL the way to the end. A note, however: Anthony Bordain makes some jokes that are hard to hear given his tragic death. Not so much cringe as just too damn sad. My response was to say a prayer for his soul and keep watching because he was being wicked funny. I give you permission to also keep laughing, but recommend the prayer, too. :' )
