Over the first 15 minutes I wondered if I was going to like it but then the film took off and it was very good. The acting was top drawer with a pacey plot (literally!) and throughout you really lived and felt the predicament of the hunted. The way the story went was not predictable and had a great twist at the end. Well worth watching.

This really is a mind blowing TV drama. A present day adaption of Prisoner Cell Block H, which I used to watch as a youngster. Have just finished Series 3 and about to start 4 and am absolutely loving it. It is dark, gritty, sassy and sexy and you find yourself genuinely caring about all the characters (except one of course!). Bea & Franky are incredible and I really hope Franky comes back 🙏 ❤️....honestly, so far best TV drama series I've seen in years ✔️👌

Did not find this drama at all gripping. The plot spluttered and was hard to follow. No real feeling of suspense.

Yes, very entertaining and did a great job in drawing the viewer into the psychology of a toxic and coercive relationship. Thought Jasmine played the lead role really well. Was expecting though, some kind of tie up at the end with the Phil Davis character but it didn't happen. 4 stars.

A very powerful and atmospheric gangsta/prison film. The closest thing to Scum since Scum. Joe Cole and English Frank smashed their roles out the park with the ever simmering atmosphere extra flavoured with a superb soundtrack. A great find, highly recommended to those who like raw prison drama.

Absolute let down. The most boring gangster film I've ever seen. Fell asleep twice.

A very dark, harrowing and tragic story of a man's plummet into despair after the breakdown of his working and family life as he progressively sinks into a situation he cannot escape. Cavin Clerkin smashes the lead role as David Reighton, the viewer living the emotions as his desperation mounts in his quest to turn the tables on a vicious group of gangsters who have taken control of his life after implicating him in a murder. Warning - there are some extremely realistically violent scenes some viewers may find disturbing and upsetting.

This is basically a Canadian 21st century remake of the 1970s British borstal classic Scum. The entire film follows the Scum storyline with a few adaptions and alterations of its own, some of the characters having the same names as their Scum counterparts. With strong and convincing acting all round the film highlights very well the struggles and tensions within a government penal institution covering all areas of day to day life therein. Adam Butcher is magnificent playing the powerful lead role of Butch ( counterpart to Ray Winstone's Carlin character in Scum) as too is Shane Kippel as Davis, despite a strange and rather inappropriate obsession with his mother, which did not fit in that well with the main story. On the whole not a bad film but have only given it a 3 star, because it is so heavily based on another film.

Watched this film many years ago and again recently for nostalgia. Could almost have billed it as a continuation of Ray Winstone's role in Scum, as he played a very similar character newly released from reform school. In fact in the opening scenes with John Judd playing a reform school swimming coach, you felt you could still be watching Scum! However, the overall mood of this film was much softer with only one real scene of violence and was more of a 'feelgood' slightly comedy flavoured drama. Set in late seventies Torquay, all the characters played out good parts with RW and Julie Shipley outstanding. Will appeal to those nostalgic for these kind of films of this era.

A really harrowing insight into life inside a modern day British prison and how a generally decent, well educated middle aged man, who had 'gone off the rails' due to a major drink problem, adapts to being in such a terrifying environment and a senior prison officer is sucked into a hopeless situation. Throughout, the viewer lives the 'rollercoaster' emotions of the two main characters and it really brings home the reality that the staff and officers therein can be as much prisoners to prison life as the actual inmates as some of the prisoners hold more power over each other than they do. Every choice is a 'no choice' situation with no positive outcome. A great advert for never getting sent to prison!
