A cross between gothic ghostly melodrama and low grade Agatha Christie. Weird camera angles, ridiculous screeching sound effects, tired old use of dark corners, banging doors, a crashing chandelier, locked rooms, stormy exterior, rain, rain and more rain. Cardboard characters. Unconvincing crowd scenes. Rather perfunctory denouement. Poirot not at his best, although Branagh played his part well enough, as did others coping as best they could with dire storyline.
