This is a great movie, very realistic and it will get your attention from the beginning of the film. It is a great way to show the marginalized populations not only in Mexico but also in the U.S. First, the main character is being excluded in Mexico by being part of "el barrio" low quality lifestyle, does not fit in with the industrial population from Monterrey and mainly he is also being targeted by Narco trafico. Then, he goes to the U.S and experience the immigrant struggle but mainly the discrimination from the NY "guetto" communities and the American cops. The main character due to his style cannot fit anywhere but only in his community of "Kolombianos" (yes with the K). It is pretty amazing how this character interacts in NY especially with the asian girl and portrays the differences mainly in language. I would say the kolombian uses a very street/slang Spanish not even recognized by the Mexicans in NY. It is definitely a movie to watch if you want to expand your horizons and appreciate the subcultures.
