Just listened to Pam Blackstocks' new album Sometimes I get Homesick. I give it five stars because it is a five star performance. Let's get the obvious out of the way first, Pam can sign. But then a lot of those with the gift end up with a so-so CD because the production is well, so-so.
This is a professional production. I don't know the artist supporting Pam but their talent pushes through screaming 'studio professionals.'
I like every song but my favorites are track two: If you see My Savior (to me the instrumental lead in has a little Asleep at the wheel, Bob Wills sound and then Pam comes in and makes this really swing).
Then Track four is simply exceptional, Found myself singing (well, not really but trying) along.
Track eight is the namesake.
Track nine moves along and the lyrics are catchy.
Then of course Track ten, 'Grandpa' is, for me, the perfect exit.
So well done. You get what you pay for and pay for what you get. This album is a mood changer, buy it and get lifted up while doing a little foot patting.
