I love, love this show...started watching with Season 1! Recently, rewatched Season 3, Episode 12. Made me sad. Frank and Mike were picking at the dive shop where the owners son was paralyzed. Frank made a statement, "if you don't have family and friends then what have you got." Who knew when that was shot, Mike and Frank would stop being friends later. My brother began to have addiction challenges late in life. His wife left him, his friends fell away as he struggled to make significant life changes to better manage his addiction. There is a way to support someone going thru this and not move into an enabling relationship but it takes very hard work. But you don't abandoned your friends and family. Sad...everyone loses when this happens. Glad to say that with patience, and sticking thru hard times, our family is healing and growing. I know each situation is unique, so Best of luck and holding Frank in healing light as he battles the stroke and continues to find love in his life.
