I love this book! Sharing the bipolar 1 diagnosis, I can totally relate to Leah’s grandiose thinking, rage and the compulsive need to shop while manic.
Ironically, I not only find this book to be heartwarming as well as hilarious.
The word pictures describing his wife’s manic behaviors are spot on. Of course, those of us who’ve been manic can feel really embarrassed of the high volume of ALL CAPS texts and emails we may have sent to hundreds of people with a level of urgency and priority reserved for high level diplomats.
That said, I read it with a very sober attention to staying on my meds and not screwing up the day and night. When I first started reading it, I was a bit depressed however, whether it’s my new meds or the book, I was laughing out loud.
On a serious note, it is clear how much this poor husband loves his out of control wife. Even in their anger, he still loves her. Bipolar; it’s a bite but it was a much more uplifting book than increasing your Prozac. And who ever said that life with a BP is uneventful?
