I look forward to watching ABC News with David Muir each night. However, I don't look forward to hearing biased or incorrect news as was the case with Matt Gutman on Tuesday evening, August 20th. Matt Gutman reported on a video that showed 10 members of boys water polo team at Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California doing the Nazi salute. He also said they were referencing the Confederate War. There was no mention of the Confederacy, no Confederate Flag, no racist slavery remark linked to the Confederacy in this incident and I wondered why Matt threw that in. This was terribly hurtful to families who had descendants that fought in the Confederate war, especially to organizations such as United Daughters of the Confederacy. As with any war, the brave souls that fought in whatever particular war at the time, fought for what they believed in and do not need to be linked with such a monstrous genocidal moment as the Nazi, Hitler regime. I have researched everything about that Nazi Salute incident and can find nothing that referenced the Confederacy. I believe Matt owes descendants of Confederate Veterans and Southerners in general an apologize. Don't get me wrong, I really like Matt, however, if he is gonna try to make his reporting longer by throwing in information out of the air, make sure he gets his facts straight.
