I completely agree with the many other reviews based on their opinion about the inequitable and unfair judging on the show and how it was ultimately based on the political and hyper-feminist statements made by the undeserved “winner”, Deborah, and not based on her technical skill and talent. While she is an extremely talented artist and she earned her way through many of the challenges based on merit, she was certainly not deserving of winning the entire competition. The final episode of season 1 left us feeling absolutely disgusted. The true winner was very clearly Janusz, as his technical skills were proven to be far superior to Deborah’s with every single challenge. Their ultimate motive of cramming their political and social beliefs down the audience’s throats was to the detriment of true fairness and equality of what should be a competition based on advanced skill and talent in the fine art of glassblowing. I’m all for equity, however titles and rewards are truly earned based on merit, skill and hard work; not your propensity for making a political statement whenever you open your mouth. Way to absolutely ruin what could be a wonderful and captivating competition.
