Amazing spectacle! Although as I’m watching the end, I can’t help shake this feeling that I’ve seen this movie before… And then it hits me… James Bonds “No time to die” has practically ripped off the ending of surfs up!!! Just like when big Z faked his own wipe out, it seems like Bond has faked his own death, escaping the missiles been launched at him.
I think it’s obvious that Bond was planning his “death” when he found out he was being replaced by a newer, seemingly better bond… Just like when Big Z knew he couldn’t contend with upcomer “Hank the Tank”
What bond and Big Z have always had in common, was they will never be family men!
When bond found out that he was the father of a 5 year old, I think it solidified him wanting to fake his own death
Why was bond so persistent on launching the missiles that very minute? It’s not like the aroma was going anywhere?!
How can bond take out a whole army, only to conveniently get the aroma on him the last second, which would mean that he could never see or touch his family again?! Coincidence? I think not.
My theory, which is heavily implied by the director if you watch some of his interviews… is that he has escaped the blastings, and is now living it up on the surf coast somewhere with the cute CIA agent who he had amazing chemistry with, just waiting for the next hungry, impatient, trained operative wannabe to stumble across his surf shack so he could teach him the ways of being a trained killer.
If I was the director of surfs up, I would be seeking copyright infringement claims… Regardless, I was a fan of “surfs up” and “no time to dies” rendition of it. 4 Stars
